Miss Independent- One Charming Party

Today's Miss Independent is yet another lovely lady,
Party Planner Brittany Egbert!
Check out Brittany, creative mind behind One Charming Party! Not only is her blog full of fantastic DIYs and printables, but she also makes some really neat Party Packages. She also just started her second store, Bake it Pretty, which sells cute baking and party supplies.

1. What made you decide to start your own business?

I first started out as a local party planner in my city. Friends and neighbors encouraged me to do this so I finally took the leap and started One Charming Party. From there it became an online business.

2. What was your biggest risk or fear about starting a business?

I think investing a lot of money into my business has been the biggest risk, but it's all worked out in the end.

3. How did you know what you wanted to do?

I didn't ever know that this was what I wanted to do. It has gradually become a full time job as new opportunities have come along. My mother owned a catering business when I was growing up so parties and party planning came naturally, I guess.

4. What support system do you have for your business to help you stay motivated?

My husband and kids are very supportive and helpful. I also have a lot of friends and extended family that pitched in, especially in the early years.

5. What is your biggest challenge about running your own business?

The biggest challenge is definitely staying on top of all the boring, behind the scenes stuff that you need to do to run your own business--paying quarterly taxes, updating your finances, renewing licenses, tracking employee payroll and other things like that.

6. What is the best advice you have for someone wanting to start a business?

Someone once told me to have a thick skin--not everyone is going to like you or like what you do. But that's easier said than done!

I definitely agree with that advice! Sometimes you just have to go with your gut and not worry about what people will think. Brittany deserves a HUGE Thank You for participating today, and don't forget to check out her fabulous blog!!!!

I love her blog! Thick skin is right. It's so easy to doubt yourself and no one wants a wishy washer party planner ;)
