Fortunately, I discovered the author has a blog (right up my alley!) so I can continue to have Lunch in Paris in my heart!
Still not convinced? Here are my top reasons why you should read this book!
1. Recipes
I actually attempted the recipes before I read the book. One of my favorite recipes is the Lentil Soup (which also kicked-off my recent re-discovery of Crème Fraiche. How did I live before?) Do not, I repeat, DO NOT use Sour Cream. Go all the way and splurge on the Crème Fraiche, it makes all the difference.
The Summer Ratatouille is also equally delicious and amazing as well as Gwendal's Quick and Dirty Soufflé
2. Life Lessons
Some of us have to learn the hard way, even if it means uprooting ourselves from everything we have ever known and moving to Paris. While it sounds like the life I have in my dreams, I can only imagine the real trials and struggles between American mentality vs. Parisian lifestyle (permitting you stay longer than a holiday). As well as expectations of family and friends about what "should be". While the "fresh lifestyle" sounds amazing (eating what is fresh that day, when it's available)... the American convenience of pre-packaged Chicken Broth or Chocolate Chip Cookies would be hard to live without!

I could not relate more to her experiences, especially regarding her friendships. She seriously has a whole chapter on "Dating Friends". I honestly feel this way about friendships sometimes. I have always gotten along better with guys, so having a relationship has been somewhat easy (even though you would think it would be the other way around!) But having girls for friends can be exhausting and hard! However, in France, it is especially hard because people are less willing to let new people into their lives.
So what are you waiting for? Pick up this book and enjoy the fact that we made it to Wednesday! Whoo Hoo!!!!
